2009 BMW F800R
Overall concept and vehicle properties.

BMW most recently struck out on a new path in the segment of medium
category motorcycles with the F 800 series launched in 2006. In addition
to the sporty F 800 S, the fi rst model variation to be presented, and the
F 800 ST with its touring capabilities, the fourth BMW Motorrad engine series
was supplemented in 2007 with the F 800 GS and the F 650 GS . two dynamic
enduro models in the very best BMW GS tradition.

With the new F 800 R, BMW now takes the logical step of expanding
the F 800 model series further by presenting at the EICMA 2008 . the
Milan motorcycle show - a sporty roadster in the segment of medium category
naked bikes designed for a high level of riding dynamics and maximum
riding fun. Alongside the two roadsters R 1200 R and K 1300 R, this is now
the third BMW roadster to see its world premiere in the BMW Urban world
of experience: the new F 800 R, the dynamic BMW naked bike for the
medium category.

The engine of the F 800 R is the parallel twin with 4-valve technology and
a capacity of 798 cc, already familiar from the F 800 S.

While the highly distinctive in-line 2-cylinder engine of the previous models
was especially impressive due its pulling power, spontaneous response
and low level of fuel consumption, the new model now refl ects a further
optimisation of engine and throttle response thanks to a new throttle valve
kinematic system.

The rated output of the engine is 64 kW/87 bhp at approx. 8,000 rpm and
produces a torque of 86 Nm at approx. 6,000 rpm. The mass compensation
of the parallel twin is implemented by a system which is still unique in
serial production motorcycle construction in which an additional swivel rod
compensates the fi rst-order and second-order mass forces, ensuring
that the 2-cylinder engine runs with an unusually low level of vibration which
is especially pleasant for the rider.

Closely based on the big BMW roadster K 1300 R in its design, the distinctively
sporty F 800 R with its orientation towards a high level of riding dynamics
delivers just what its dynamic exterior promises. From standing, the F 800 R
possesses considerable sprinting power. What is more, shorter gear ratios in fourth to sixth gear ensure improved continuity; in conjunction with the
excellent pulling power of the two-cylinder this makes for a highly agile and
sporty performance.

Important contributions to the outstanding dynamics of the new F 800 R
are also made by the low dry weight of approx. 182 kg or approx. 204 kg fully
fuelled and the chassis with double-sided rear-wheel swing-arm which is
especially adapted to the requirements of a sporty naked bike. In accordance
with the style and purpose of a sporty naked bike, the new F 800 R also has
a secondary drive with O-ring chain.

In line with the demands of a dynamic roadster, the chassis is designed for
excellent handling, agility and steering precision, and therefore maximum
riding fun on winding country roads, though without compromises in terms of
directional stability at high speeds, for example when riding on the motorway.
The streetbike freestyle world champion Christian Pfeiffer provides a foretaste
of just how playfully the rider can handle the F 800 R. For over two years now
he has ridden a version of the F 800 S exclusively tailored to his needs at
international competitions and shows: the similarity of this bike to the current
F 800 R is by no means coincidental. In future, the motorcycle acrobat will be
able to demonstrate his skills on a machine based on the new F 800 R.

But the new F 800 R boasts more than just sporting talent: in the very best
tradition of BMW it also possesses classic virtues such as outstanding
seating comfort for rider and pillion passenger as well as an exemplary level of
safety. For example, the F 800 R is optionally fitted with an ABS whose newly
developed pressure sensor provides an even fi ner regulation of the system
and therefore even greater safety . especially in connection with sporty riding.
What is more, the extensive BMW Motorrad accessory program meets all
customer demands in terms of individual fittings.

An overview of the main features of the new F 800 R:

- Compact, sporty naked bike with high level of riding dynamics and agility
for maximum riding fun.
- Liquid-cooled parallel twin with 798 cc, 4-valve technology, dohc valve

2009 BMW K1300R

2009 BMW K1300R
Making a significant departure from traditional sports motorcycle concepts,
BMW proudly presented the gmost powerful naked bike of all timesh at the
2004 INTERMOT Motorcycle Show: the BMW K 1200 R. Ever since it
has been a well-known fact that BMW is by all means willing and able to
openly demonstrate extreme power and extroverted design in genuine style.
Now the significantly uprated successor to the BMW K 1200 R is making
its world debut at the 2008 INTERMOT Motorcycle Show in the
BMW Urban Encounter World . the new K 1300 R, the most powerful
naked bike BMW has ever built.

Developing maximum output of 127 kW (173 hp) and weighing exactly 243 kg
(536 lb) with a full tank, this extravagant Power Roadster, one of the most
powerful and dynamic machines in its segment, fulfills the greatest demands
in terms of riding dynamics without in any way neglecting the particular
wishes and preferences of the BMW customer in terms of safety, equipment
and riding comfort. Hence, BMW remains at the top also in the special
category of Power Naked Bikes.

Even more sporting, superior and dynamic.

The K 1300 R Power Roadster is a high-performance riding machine offering
a perfect blend of performance, riding safety and technical features carried
over from the K 1300 S. So while the drivetrain and running gear are carried
over from the K 1300 S, they have been modifixed in this case to meet the
particular requirements of a large-capacity naked bike. The most significant
and outstanding considerations in developing the K 1300 R were indeed
to offer the rider supreme riding pleasure combined with equally outstanding
safety on the road as well as the most sophisticated design features and an
extroverted, masculine look.

Suspension geometry upgraded to an even higher standard than on the
previous K 1200 R gives the K 1300 R even greater agility combined with the
same high standard of riding stability as before. The basic technical data on
the suspension are now the same as on the K 1300 S. In comparison with the
previous K 1200 R, the BMW Duolever front-wheel suspension is now slightly
lower, with the wheelbase of the new model being correspondingly longer.

Features and Technical Highlights.

The guide ducts on the engine have likewise been modifixed for the new
machine, with maximum output of 127 kW (173 hp) almost the same as on
the K 1300 S. Quite generally, both engine output and torque have been
increased significantly over the previous model, while the shorter fi nal drive
ratio of 2.91 versus 2.82 on the K 1300 S likewise has a positive impact on
the acceleration and pulling power of the new machine.

Contrary to the former model, the frame, wheel carriers and drivetrain come in
the same colour on all three colour variants of the K 1300 R. This is because
the black engine and suspension components such as the frame and wheel
carriers in Asphalt Metallic symbolise the technical character and sporting
style of the new K 1300 R.

The body colours highlight the newly designed features and the strong
character of the new K 1300 R, in particular the muscular front end
and the slender rear. While Silk Metallic stands for masculine strength
and determination, Lava Orange Metallic creates a sporting, almost
provocative touch.

Refl ecting the current Zeitgeist, white is now back in the market, nevertheless
re-interpreted in this case as Light Grey Metallic with a larger share of metallic
components emphasising the three-dimensional presence of a motorcycle
from BMW.

The graphically much more aggressive model designation stands out clearly
but in full harmony on all colour variants.

2009 BMW S1000RR

BMW's First Series Superbike Comes off the Production Line.

As the excitement builds for BMW Motorrad's introductory race to the Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island on March 1st 2009, the first series production version of the superbike has rolled off the production line in Berlin: the BMW S 1000 RR.
Based closely on the series production bike, the race version has been performing extremely well in recent tests held in Portimao and Valencia. BMW Motorrad Motorsport Team Alpha Racing, as well as riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus are very impressed with the bikes progress and what the future holds in the Superbike World Championship.
The series production BMW S 1000 RR is a completely new motorcycle for BMW Motorrad with a compact and light 999cc in-line 4-cylinder engine. The dry weight of the motorcycle is 183 kg.
Both its supreme performance figures and its outstanding riding properties make the BMW S 1000 RR an extremely attractive offer in the superbike segment.
The engine has a very compact cylinder head and is narrow in shape. The valves are activated by means of very small, light cam followers, virtually at Formula 1 level in terms of their dimensions. This construction ensures very high engine speeds and allows maximum freedom in engine design in terms of torque and output.
The BMW S 1000 RR optionally receives a newly developed sports ABS featuring four different modes as well as the dynamic traction control system DTC will be available. The principal function of the traction control system has been borrowed directly from the racing version.
The distinctive design of the S 1000 RR reflects the bold and muscular style of the superbike segment but also clearly represents the brand BMW. The new S 1000 RR will be available in the four finishes Mineral Silver metallic, Acid Green metallic, Thunder Grey metallic and - based on the BMW Motorrad racing colours - Alpine White/Lupine Blue/Magma Red.
The production version of the BMW S 1000 RR will be presented to the public during the European summer and customers globally and in Australia can register their interest in dealerships now.
It is anticipated that the BMW S 1000 RR will be available early 2010 with retail pricing to be announced closer to its arrival.

2010 Aprilia RS125

2010 Aprilia RS125
Aprilia has always been the undisputed leader in 125 cc supersports, a market segment in which Aprilia has pioneered new concepts and advanced solutions, and developed technology that others have struggled to follow. Like all Aprilia motorcycles, the RS 125 has benefited from the sophisticated technology that has been developed over years of success in GP racing, and quickly transferred into production. Over the years, the RS 125 has forged a reputation as the standard setter for sports 125’s. Sales success has come naturally too, with the RS 125 topping the sales tables on major European markets. The RS 125 is the inevitable choice of riders entering Sport Production racing. And rightly so, because when the competition gets tough, there is simply no other bike like the Aprilia RS 125. The Aprilia RS 125 offers young riders the best in components and equipment, and a concentration of technical refinements worthy of a flagship supersport.
The following are just some of the main features of the Aprilia RS 125:
• tried and tested yet extremely sophisticated Rotax two stroke engine;
• super-rigid aluminium frame and swingarm derived from Aprilia’s vast GP experience;
• upside down fork;
• front brake with radial caliper and four opposed pistons;
• RSV 1000 R style fairing, windshield and tail;
• RSV Factory style, crossed spoke wheels;
• analog/digital instrument panel with multi-functional computer;
• RSV Factory style, forged steering yoke;
• oval section racing silencer with riveted end plates;

STYLE
The mean, cutting edge look of the new RS 125 tells you that this is a professional racing machine. The styling of the RS, like that of all Aprilia sports bikes, is the result of painstaking aerodynamic research.

The fairing, for example, was perfected by extensive wind tunnel testing, to guarantee great wind protection and minimum drag for maximum racetrack efficiency. The fairing, windshield and tail not only look mean and aggressive, but allow the RS 125 to reach a blistering top speed, eliminating all turbulence around the rider and allowing man and machine to become one.

The latest generation twin halogen headlight also adds to the mean look of the new RS 125, and delivers a high power light beam for enhanced visibility and safety at night. The sleek tail looks exactly like the tail of a GP racer. Thanks to the effort put into the design of the RS 125’s tail, not even the passenger seat disturbs the bike’s impeccable lines.

The crossed spoke wheels are not only lighter and more stylish, but safer and more reliable too.

ENGINE
The powerful but reliable, single cylinder, two stroke, Rotax-Aprilia engine needs no introduction. Over the years it has won a reputation for being unbeatable on the track and dependable on the road.
Still today, this engine boasts technical solutions that are state-of-the-art for two strokes, including a crankcase reed valve intake, liquid cooling, an anti-vibration balancer shaft, and an automatic mixing system. The RS 125’s engine has been constantly updated over the years to keep in line with the latest emission control legislation without penalising performance. A catalytic converter and precision carburation has won Aprilia’s single cylinder two stroke homologation to Euro 3 standards. And the amazing thing is that this has been achieved without losing out on performance: the Aprilia RS 125 engine remains the reference point for all 125 cc powerplants.

CHASSIS
Without a doubt, the most advanced single component on the RS 125 is its frame. Developed from Aprilia’s vast experience in GP 125 racing, the RS 125 frame is made from cast aluminium alloy with cross-ribbing reinforcement. Despite its extremely light weight, this advanced structure achieves amazing torsional rigidity, setting the standards for Aprilia’s competitors.

The box section, aluminium alloy swingarm has the highest torsional rigidity of all production 125 cc swingarms. Differential side members enable the exhaust to follow a path that maximises engine performance and enables more acute angles of lean to be achieved on bends without risking dangerous contact with the asphalt.

The suspension too plays a fundamental role in ensuring not only the RS 125’s performance, but its safety and comfort too. The RS 125 can rely on an upside-down fork that has been optimised for maximum performance on the racetrack while also delivering a more satisfying ride on public roads.
The rear suspension features rising rate linkages based on Aprilia’s 125 GP racing technology, for excellent traction and superb comfort even over uneven road surfaces. The hydraulic monoshock that provides the damping for the swingarm is also adjustable in spring preload.

BRAKES
Like any self-respecting supersport motorcycle, the RS 125 has to have the best when it comes to components. The braking system is the best available, and designed for maximum efficiency under competitive riding conditions. The front brake is a genuine state-of-the-art, high performance system with a radial caliper and four opposed pistons. In addition to the 320 mm front disc, the system also incorporates a radial master cylinder and aeronautical hoses for maximum precision and unrivalled braking power. The rear disc is 220 mm in diameter and is also equipped with metal braided hoses for perfectly balanced, high performance braking.

EQUIPMENT
The Aprilia RS 125 is packed with prestige components. Compact and impressively light in weight, the instruments include an analog rev counter and a multifunctional digital display with an on-board computer that can be operated from the handlebars. The speedometer, rev counter, coolant temperature gauge and exclusive racing chronometer put you in total control. The on-board computer even has provision for interfacing with the optical finishing systems used on racetracks.

2010 Aprilia Shiver 750

2010 Aprilia Shiver 750
MORE RACING SPIRIT, MORE AGGRESSIVE, MORE ERGONOMIC. WITH THIS MODEL YEAR 2010, APRILIA SHIVER REACHES ITS DEFINITE MATURITY LEVEL CONFIRMING ALL ITS DYNAMIC QUALITIES AND EXCELLENT FEATURES.

APRILIA 750 SHIVER M.Y. 2010
The evolution of the Shiver project has no limits. The Aprilia naked that has surprised the world with its technological content which is still not within reach of its competitors, has perfected itself even further with interventions that aim at increasing its personality, riding fun and ergonomic features.
In terms of special features, Aprilia Shiver 2010 is without doubt the benchmark bike in the medium cc naked sector. A highly evolved engine fitted with latest generation integral Ride by Wire, a multimap, a first-rate chassis which is able to satisfy all levels of riders, and technical outfit that no other bike even comes close to.
Today, these features are highlighted by an even more racing look, with the arrival of a new top fairing and aggressive Wave discs. At the same time, Aprilia Shiver has come even closer to satisfying the needs of riders, with totally revamped ergonomics, a 5 cm slimmer saddle to provide better control optimising bike handling not only on the road, but also when the engine is switched off. The rider and passenger footpegs are also new and contribute to lending the bike an enhanced sporting look. The moved-back rider footpegs and the new handlebar inclination allow for a more sporting use. Thanks to these updates the Aprilia Shiver M.Y. 2010 is now a far more fascinating bike.
There are a few key issues which mark the success of Shiver. It is a high-performance efficient bike which can seduce even the most demanding rider, but it is also able to bring on those who are new to the two-wheeled scene, as it is so easy to ride. The 2010 version maintains this as a prerogative. In fact, the new lower and slimmer saddle provides for extra and more effective control.
The main features of the Aprilia 750 Shiver my 2010 are:
" V2 90° engine with four valves per cylinder, double overhead camshaft and liquid cooling;
" the integral Ride-by-Wire tri-map technology developed for competitions;
" modular trellis/aluminium frame with significant torsional rigidity;
" aluminium swingarm with stiffener brace and lateral shock absorber;
" 43mm upside down fork;
" racing brakes with radial callipers and 320mm Wave discs
" New more protective top fairing
" New lower and slimmer saddle
" New racing style rider/passenger footpegs

Design
The new Shiver roundly focuses on racing aspects. The new colours, the wave-style discs and the new racing rider footpegs are just a few of the signals that Shiver sends out to those observing it. The line remains very streamline and Italian and thanks to the clever use of the new colours and graphics, Shiver moves up a few notches as far as balance and aggression are concerned, highlighting some techniques that really make a difference, such as, for instance, the side shock absorber or the mixed steel trellis frame and aluminium plates.

The engine
The V90 engine is the result of the extensive experience Aprilia has in high performance mechanics. Thanks to its peculiar technical features the Aprilia twin-cylinder is able to combine an exceptionally high level of output with maximum exploitation rates and user-friendly riding options. The research conducted to reach top performance levels in its category has led to the decision to adopt some advanced cutting-edge technical solutions. The Aprilia V2 750 engine has a number of core features: extremely generous torque over most of the rpm range, insignificant vibrations, smooth full power delivery and output levels which are top in its category.
The 2010 version of Shiver naturally uses the multi-map integral Ride by Wire technology that has been developed even further exploiting the racing experience gained with the RSV4 superbike. This technical solution obviously represents the state-of-the-art version of engine control systems and Aprilia Shiver confirms its technological leadership position in its sector.
One touch of starter button is all that is needed when the rider decides to select one of the three mappings, and radically change the character of the bike:
- "Sport" to have the "throttle in hand" when a rider needs to let off steam exploiting the entire character of this Italian twin cylinder bike;
- "Touring" when smoother power delivery and fluidity are essential during the moments when the racing desires are set aside to enjoy a more relaxing ride, even two-up;
- "Rain" when grip is not as good as it should be and maximum safety is the main objective.
Thanks to the technical solutions installed on this bike the V90 Aprilia is able to achieve outstanding output values. A maximum output of 95 hp at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 81 Nm at 7,000 rpm are exceptional performances. The amazing torque available even at bottom end means that nothing can beat Shiver on mixed tracks.
Chassis
The saying goes 'never change a winning team' and this is what Aprilia Shiver M.Y. 2010 focused on when choosing the chassis elements used on previous versions, starting from the tube trellis frame and the aluminium plates. The engine is exceptionally compact length-wise making it possible to obtain a highly agile bike, which is also helped by the particular choice to install the shock absorber on the side: this is not simply an aesthetic choice but a precise technical decision as it frees some extra space for the exhaust which can then benefit from optimal volumes.
The aluminium swingarm with the stiffener brace is dimensioned to withstand the asymmetrical stress caused by the lateral position of the shock absorber. The swingarm has benchmark rigidity levels in this category.

Suspension
The upside down fork has 43 mm stanchions with chill-cast bottom end to support the radial callipers and provide unparalleled smooth sliding action. The 120 mm travel makes it possible to easily face both urban and mountain roads.
The lateral shock absorber is fitted directly to the swingarm using a cantilever set-up and the spring preload and hydraulic rebound are adjustable; the rear wheel travel is 130 mm.

Brakes
Last year version already mounted the radial callipers, which are a solution that made this a pioneer bike in this sector. The Shiver 2010 version adds the new Wave discs and this choice not only provides for a different aesthetic impact, but also for a more decisive braking action.
The rear brake features a 245mm disc with single piston calliper to provide adequate support to the front system. The brake master cylinders have also been revamped to ensure even more effective braking response.
Both the front and rear systems have metal braided braking pipes, derived from the aeronautic sector, which eliminate the annoying buffering effect of conventional pipes and guarantee maximum braking accuracy and top-class system.
It also comes in an ABS version, and adopts a 2-channel Continental system which is able to guarantee maximum levels of safety when braking in all conditions.

DESIGN: CONCEIVED TO THRILL
The minimal and aggressive bodywork of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 adds the perfect finishing touches to the advanced motorcycle technology that forms the basis of its design. The Dorsoduro 750 is built around the rider. That is why, on this radical, daring and sporting machine everything contributes effectively to maximum riding pleasure. Plastic body panels have been reduced to a minimum for this very reason. As with top competition machines, anything that does not improve performance has been eliminated. Only the place for a number has been left to emphasis the bike's close ties with the world of racing.
The middle of the bike, the area most important to rider movement under competitive riding conditions, shows just how compact this design really is. The Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 is incredibly slender and agile and enters into instant symbiosis with its rider. Only a few metres on this amazing machine are enough to feel completely at one with it. Aprilia's design team have achieved this impressive result by giving the Dorsoduro a long, flat seat, derived directly from the world of racing, allowing the rider to find the most effective position at all times.
The sleek, compact tail houses a twinned exhaust, a solution that not only gives the bike a mean, aggressive look but also achieves perfect symmetry and ideal weight distribution. The hand guards are derived from those of the SXV supermotard and, despite their streamlined look, offer effective protection against accidental impacts with the control levers.

ENGINE: A STATE-OF-THE-ART TWIN
Numerous improvements have been made to the Aprilia 750 cc, 90° V twin engine, which now features mapping specially developed to bring out the Dorsoduro's aggressive character.
Improvements have been made to various areas of the 749.9 cc engine with its bore and stroke of 92 x 56.4 mm. As a result the electronic and mechanical content of this V twin engine sets new standards not only for engines of this size but for many far larger units too.

The electronic engine management on the Dorsoduro 750's engine leads the field in technology and performance. The Dorsoduro features a second generation electronic throttle with Tri-Map selectable triple mapping.
Three performance modes, Sport, Touring and Rain, can be selected from a switch on the handlebars (with the throttle closed for safety reasons). The Dorsoduro changes its character radically, depending on what mode you select. Sport mode gives you aggressive instant power; Touring mode gives you a smoother action, better suited to relaxed long distance riding; and Rain mode gives you ultimate safety slippery surfaces.
The Tri-Map electronic throttle also means smoother, more consistent power thanks to more accurate and precise throttle control based on parameters including engine speed, gear selection, air flow, throttle position and temperature.
Whatever mapping you select, the engine is always ready to deliver the best possible performance in terms of acceleration and rev range, giving you an amazingly satisfying and entertaining ride.
The exhaust is made entirely from stainless steel. The collector pipes meet in a single silencer under the seat before splitting again into two tail pipes. The large volume of the exhaust system also aids engine breathing and boosts efficiency.
Thanks to its advanced electronic and mechanical technology, the Aprilia V twin engine develops 92 HP at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 82 Nm at 4,500 rpm. These figures enable the Dorsoduro to compete directly with motorcycles powered by far bigger engines.
The Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 is also available, right from its introduction, in a restricted 25 kW version. The use of a ride-by-wire electronic throttle has allowed Aprilia to avoid cutting power right across the range, as happens with less advanced restricted versions. Instead, the power curve of the restricted Dorsoduro is identical to that of its full-power sister right up to the point where the permitted power limit is reached. The 25 kW Dorsoduro 750 therefore delivers far superior acceleration to the equivalent models of the competition, to the benefit of riding satisfaction and pleasure.

FRAME: PERFECT BALANCE
Aprilia motorcycles have always been acclaimed for the excellent chassis designs. The Dorsoduro 750 is no exception, thanks to a chassis that makes it the best balanced and most effective bike of its type. The new Dorsoduro is easy and intuitive to ride despite its blistering performance. It is designed to be ridden at the limit under all conditions, to perform extreme power slides, and to blast out of bends under full power. The secret lies in an ultra-responsive chassis, whose ergonomics suit riders of all statures and allow you to "take it to the limit" and enjoy the thrills of a motorcycle built for pure entertainment.
The frame incorporates all of Aprilia's vast racing experience, and makes full use of the latest mixed steel and aluminium designs derived from the world of Supermotard World Championship racing. The top half of the frame is a tubular steel trellis. This is secured to generous aluminium side members by special high strength bolts. The resulting structure is extremely rigid and lightweight, and provides the best possible means of harnessing the exuberant power of the Aprilia V90 engine while still communicating a strong impression of lightness, high technology and Italian style.
Continuous co-operation between engine and frame designers has led to the perfection of high-tech, performance-oriented solutions and to total integration between engine and frame. The intelligent design solutions applied to Aprilia's V twin engine have made it shorter than ever, permitting the development of a rational and efficient frame and a superbly agile and incredibly responsive motorcycle.
The lateral position and acute angle of the rear monoshock has freed up the space needed to ensure optimum exhaust geometry without any increase in the bike's overall length, and without subjecting the monoshock to thermal stress. The aluminium swingarm is robust enough to withstand the asymmetric stresses generated by the lateral positioning of the rear suspension. The swingarm has been specially developed to satisfy the needs of a supermotard like the Dorsoduro 750, and combines excellent torsional rigidity with the elasticity needed for precision under acceleration and intuitive control under changing conditions.

SUSPENSION: EFFECTIVE ON ALL SURFACES
Optimum suspension setup has always been one of the strong points of the Aprilia design and testing team. The 43 mm upside down fork features shell-cast bottom outers with radial calipers mountings, and offers adjustments for spring preload and rebound damping. This sophisticated fork offers a superb sliding action and a wheel travel of 160 mm in line with the latest trends in supermotard racing. Both yokes are forged, and the top yoke is also anodised to match the Dorsoduro's high level of finish.
The laterally offset monoshock pivots directly on the swingarm in a cantilever configuration, and is also adjustable in spring preload and rebound damping. Rear wheel travel is 160 mm, again in keeping the requirements of a top level supermotard, on which effective, controlled long stroke suspension is a must.

BRAKES: RACING TECHNOLOGY
The Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 is equipped with the best braking technology currently available. The front brakes feature 4-piston radial calipers, state-of-the-art for the motard market. The lightweight, 320 mm wave discs ensure shorter than ever stopping distances. The bike's aggressive stopping power is emphasised by the mean look of the braking system, in keeping with the Dorsoduro's overall styling.
The rear brakes incorporate another wave disc, 240 mm in diameter this time, plus a single piston caliper. Both the front and rear brakes are fitted with aeronautical type metal braided brake lines to eliminate the sponginess associated with conventional rubber hoses and to deliver maximum braking precision.
A sophisticated two channel Continental ABS system provides maximum active safety on the Dorsoduro 750. The ABS controller is specially calibrated to make full use of the Dorsoduro's impressive braking power and tyre grip on dry surfaces. Riders can therefore still enjoy this amazing "fun bike" to the full.

COMPONENTS
Supermotards are always no-frills machines, and sometimes quite spartan. This, however, does not mean having to do without top quality components and attention to detail. Here too Aprilia stands apart from the competition by adopting a level of equipment worthy of a true market leader:
" Matrix instrumentation. The mixed analog/digital instrument cluster receives data over a CAN line and incorporates a memory that forms an integral part of the diagnostics system. The ultra-compact instruments feature a modern design and are extremely light in weight. All functions can be accessed and controlled from the handlebars. The LED backlighting is white in the analog area and red in the digital area, and can be adjusted to three levels of brightness;
" Dual taper anodised aluminium handlebars exactly like those fitted to Aprilia's racing supermotards. This super-lightweight component is specially designed for optimum dynamic control;
" Hydraulically operated clutch for a consistently precise action and exceptional smoothness. The clutch is also self-adjusting and completely maintenance free.
